Best Travel Pet Beds

There are so many pet beds out there that cater for every conceivable need – large dogs, small dogs, old dogs, nervous dogs – you name it, there is a pet bed for your dog! Best travel beds – do we really need one?

That is also a matter of your personal needs and mostly, from a traveling point of view, the amount of space you can actually afford to set aside for your dog’s bed. Will the dog be sitting on the bed in the car or will you be stowing it? Will you take the bed he normally sleeps on at home with you or will you take one specifically for the trip? Personally we take our dogs’ normal bed with us, although they don’t sit on it in the car and it gets packed in the trunk. Honestly we love this bed and feature it first in our best travel pet beds review below.

We realize, of course, that taking your pet’s own bed is not always advisable or feasible. There are many factors that go into finding a great travel bed for your pets, for example:

  • Size and Portability. If your dog regularly sleeps in a huge, heavy bed it makes no sense to try and pack that and take it with you. Comfortable but light is the way to go.
  • Washable and Water-Resistant. Dogs just want to have fun and explore their surroundings. They are going to get dirty and probably damp. That does not mean the bed has to as well.
  • Comfortable. It may be exciting, but traveling is stressful. Good travel pet beds can often help to alleviate that.

We have chosen these popular travel pet beds based on how they measure up to what is important when finding a good pet bed to travel with your dog.

PupRug Faux Fur Memory Foam Orthopedic Bed

The PupRug Faux Fur Memory Foam Orthopedic Bed is our favorite. It is super comfortable, easy for our senior dog to get on and off and the large is big enough for both dogs to sleep on together. It is also very attractive and looks good in our living room at the fireplace. Pressure-relieving memory foam relieves joint pain, especially in senior or injured dogs, and is enclosed in a water-resistant liner. From a traveling point of view it is light, durable, and easily washed. The faux fur cover is removable and machine washable. It comes in two styles – curved white (shown here and what we have) and rectangular grey and in three sizes – small/medium, large/extra-large, and giant.
