EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA

East London on the Sunshine Coast.

East London is a relatively small town on the southeast coast of South Africa.  It is peaceful and laid back in a surfer-cool kind of way.  

Known for its great waves and wide beaches, it is also the only river port in South Africa.  The town was first settled on the banks of the Buffalo River and it grew from there.

Nahoon Beach is one of the most popular hang-out beaches for surfers and swimmers.

The Nahoon River flows out to sea a short walk from the surf beach and families play, picnic, and fish all the way up the river.

A little further north is a beach called Gonubie which is well suited to windsurfing and fishing.  There is also a tidal pool which is a popular swimming hole that is reached via a boardwalk.

Thoughts and Things

I might be biased – but I think Nahoon Beach in East London, South Africa is one of the most wonderful beaches in the world. Check out this 3 minute YouTube Drone view of this magnificent place.
