Temecula is Southern California’s premier wine region given the Mediterranean climate (warm, dry summers and cool winters with relatively low rainfall) found in this little corner of the state. Other wine-producing regions with Mediterranean climates include Tuscany and parts of Southern Italy, the Southern Rhone Valley, Provence, most of Greece, many parts of Spain, Southern Oregon, Baja California, and the Napa Valley.
Two hours south-east of Los Angeles it can be a day trip, although better to stay overnight to enjoy wine tasting from over forty wineries nestled beneath the Santa Rosa Mountain Range. Even if you are allowed to walk around the gardens and vineyards, there is not much to do for a dog on a wine-tasting excursion. Here is Spike showing us exactly what he thinks about the eternal waiting around, with not a beach or squirrel or treat in sight!
Of course, there are many other things to do in Temecula other than vineyard-hopping. Hot air ballooning is popular in Temecula too as well as fine-dining, spa-pampering and the Pechanga Resort Casino. None of which are dog-friendly of course.

Thoughts and Things
When you travel a lot with your dog you know to be prepared for anything. See the picture above? You’ve got to anticipate poops in the most inappropriate places.
Keep poop bags handy!
